Gratitude Attitude

Today, I would like to take a minute to extend a heartfelt thanks to the Haftel and Rudnitsky families.  I have been fortunate enough to know the Rudnitsky clan for over twenty years through my college roommate, and I’ve known her husband’s family almost as long.  This past weekend I was blessed to celebrate their beautiful firstborn’s Bar Mitzvah, and as usual with the McCaffertys, there was a great deal of planning involved in making certain all of us could attend some part of the ritual, no matter how briefly.

Jennifer and Ben, proud parents of the Bar Mitzvah boy, went out of their way to make certain we could pull this off, and their efforts meant the world, as it was incredibly important to me that my sons, her children’s cousins of the heart, make known to Jeremy just how proud they were of him.  I’ve been attending such affairs of her family for years.  In every single instance I have been included as extended family, made to feel welcome, fielded heartfelt inquiries as to the welfare of my children, as well as my own.  At times it is quite daunting to take Justin places, but Jen and Ben have always made it known that their home is a safe haven for us, that behaviors are irrelevant, that no one will judge.

Every family like ours needs that refuge in their lives. I am so deeply appreciative that they have continually provided it for us.

We are so happy to have been a part of this wonderful tradition.  Mazel tov!

It really is such a blessing to have that love & acceptance which translates into a safe place to fall after having fought with school, fought the insurance company, fought Autism, fought intolerance and fought against the behaviors. That welcoming embrace, sympathetic ear and unbending support is a treasure to be cherished! We all just have that basic instinct to be loved. Kudos to Jen & Ben for setting such a great example for their family.

I am sure we are related. Love each and everyone of you. Jennifer

Cousins of the heart. I’m stealing that. It is such a blessing to have family in our lives – both those we are related to and those that we find along the way.
